Caretaker

Caretaker – DAS Jobs 

Elmwood & Penrose Federation are seeking to appoint an organised and reliable Caretaker. You will be part of a team responsible for the high quality maintenance, security and cleanliness of the new Polden Bower school buildings located in Bower Lane Bridgwater. The team is led by our Premises Manager.

You will need to be a good team player and confident with working in a busy environment. You will also need to be available to attend out of hours to urgent security or maintenance issues and to open and lock premises on a daily basis, possibly on a spilt shift and to open and lock the building for pre-arranged lettings. You will ideally be able to drive and be willing to move between different sites throughout the day and be happy to drive the school vehicles. An awareness of Health & Safety and building skills would be an advantage as would knowledge of COSH. There are also some cleaning responsibilities.

This is a very exciting time to be joining a growing Federation, we are working in partnership with The Bridge School which is the PRU within Bridgwater and Avalon School in Street. We have now completed our purpose built new school – Polden Bower School. This will be a 160 place special school and will have the specialist resources needed to meet the needs of our students.

We are seeking a Manager for our brand-new Bower Café, opening in the Autumn term. We are looking for someone who is welcoming and inspiring to join the team.

This is a Grade 12 post, (£22,183 - £25,481 dependent upon experience), all year round with 27 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.

The working day begins at 7.30a.m., but as this is a new venture, hours will have to be varied to meet the needs of the school initially.

Polden Bower Special School has 160 children on roll and is located on the edge of Bridgwater, within easy access of all arterial roads. It’s a fantastic place to work with state-of-the-art facilities for all the children and young people, this includes a warm water pool for physiotherapy; a sports hall; a sensory room; and fully accessible classrooms with the latest teaching technology. Polden Bower School is part of a growing partnership which also includes The Bridge School, Sedgemoor and Avalon School.

Brief outline of duties:

· Manage the day-to-day operations of the cafe and its staff in line with all Polden Bower's policies and procedures.

· Monitor income and expenditure & produce monthly reports.

· Prepare, cook and serve menu items adhering to all food hygiene standards.

· Co-ordinate with vendors and suppliers as required to ensure supplies are maintained.

Midday Supervisors

We are looking for Midday Supervisors to join our friendly team at our new Polden Bower School. Working term time only from Monday to Friday 12:00 - 13:30 each day to assist our students during the lunch time period.

This is a Grade 16 post. 7.30 hrs per week. Approximate annual gross salary £3,375, monthly £281.30

Our students have a wide range of learning needs. We offer a personalised curriculum alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities and interventions.

Applicants should be:

· Able to work alongside others to ensure independent life skills are practiced and developed throughout the day

· Able to demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic approach

· Enjoy working with children and young people

Parent and Family Support Adviser

Polden Bower School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, patient and adaptable PFSA for our new purpose built special school to start as soon as possible on a permanent contract. This is an all year round post with 27 days holiday + bank holidays

Grade 12 point 12-19 dependent upon experience £22,183 – £25,481

This post will involve working in a variety of settings, including in schools, the community and family homes. Working 37 hours per week, the post-holder will carry a caseload of approximately 20-30 children, young people and their families and will work to support them and their families make positive and sustainable change. Multi-agency working will be at the core of this work, but the ability to work independently is also essential.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be prepared to work with children and families within their homes and other venues in and around Street.
  • Be able to demonstrate creativity and flexibility in their approach to engaging families, identifying family strengths, assessing their needs and supporting them to make sustainable, positive change.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with pupils, their families and supporting professionals.
  • Have experience of working with and engaging children and young people with complex needs.
  • Be able to work both collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • Be able to identify unmet needs and risks surrounding pupils and respond to them appropriately, in accordance with local area safeguarding policies and guidance.

PCR Facilitator/Family Support Worker

Polden Bower School is looking for a PCR Facilitator/Family Support Worker.  With a start date as soon as possible on a permanent contract.

Grade 12 point 12 -19 dependent upon experience. Annual gross salary per annum approximately £21,621 – £24,835

This contract is for term time and INSET days plus an additional 4 weeks during the school holidays. Annual leave will need to be taken during school holidays.

The successful candidate will be confident, inclusive and a patient individual who is able to lead and oversee the Annual Review Process for children and young people’s EHCP’s.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualities:

  • Be able to facilitate multi-agency meetings
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have a good understanding of the Early Help system
  • Be flexible, creative and solution focused
  • Have the ability to build professional, positive and trusting relationships with children, young people and families
