Pupil Voice - Charity of the Year

Charity of the Year

This year our Junior Leadership Team and School Council have voted ‘School in a Bag’ as the Federation wide Charity of the Year. This links closely to our school ethos and values of ‘Believe You Can’ and our commitment of being a Rights Respecting School.

School in a Bag

School in a Bag is an initiative run by 'The Piers Simon Appeal' and seeks to help poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster affected children throughout the world. According to UNICEF figures, 20% of the world's child population will never attend school.

An education for these children could be their passport to a life out of poverty and hardship. School in a Bag aims to supply children with a school bag filled with stationery, learning resources and eating utensils that will enable them to express themselves by writing, drawing, colour and above all learn.

What we will do…

As a school, our focus will be to support this charity and money raised will go towards buying essential school bags and items for these children. We will hold specific charitable events specifically for School in a Bag. In addition, other charitable events such as Children in Need, Red Nose Day and Macmillan Coffee Mornings, we will donate 25% raised to School in a Bag, 25% to our Friends of the Federation ‘Sensory Play Appeal’ and the remaining 50% to the identified charity.
