Inclusive School League Football Tournament

On Wednesday the 4th May, Elmwood took two teams to Bucklers Mead in Yeovil to take part in the Inclusive School League Tournament. There were four other special schools and two teams from Bucklers Mead and they were divided into under 14’s and under 18’s.

The teams performed well; with the u14’s winning three of their five matches and the u18’s two. The u18’s did particularly well, considering they did not have enough players in that age group, so u14’s stepped up to fill the gaps in the older age bracket as well.

During the course of the day, all students attained success, including Thomas who on his debut for the team in goal saved many shots contributing to the success of the team. There were many goal scorers from the matches; one was John, who was happy as he scored a goal, as well as Ethan, Jordon and Charlie who also scored. Bradley made an amazing assist, helping Charlie to finish off and score. Bradley and Tyler showed off their skills by dribbling around defenders and passing the ball to other members of their team throughout the tournament. Jay was the team’s final goal scorer; he completed five headers in the tournament when one hits its mark resulting in a goal. Jay also enjoyed playing all positions on the field.

Staff who accompanied the teams were pleased to see the reliability of Tom and the “infectious energy and enthusiasm” of Bradley P, meanwhile George “quietly got on with it to great effect”.

The day was a great success, and everyone who attended behaved well, played well, enjoyed themselves and represented Elmwood School with pride. The whole group have been praised as “a credit to both themselves and the Federation”. Well done to all involved!
