Safeguarding

Everyone who comes into contact with children, young people and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. School staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for children, to prevent concerns from escalating.

Our Pastoral Team are available to work with families, where concerns are raised at the earliest opportunity and/or where families identify that they need support themselves.

Staff at Elmwood School, work closely with Social Care, the Police, Health Services and other services to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

All staff at Elmwood School receive appropriate training for their roles, in order to be able to safeguard children and young people. Training includes:

  • Safeguarding and Child Protection
  • E-Safety
  • Prevent – Extremism and Radicalisation
  • Child Sexual Exploitation among other topics

The school’s Safeguarding Policy explains in detail the school’s procedures.
