Elmwood School is a secondary provision for students aged 11-16 with a range of learning needs including, but not limited to, moderate, severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health issues, communication needs and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. Current pupils on role come from a wide area across the South West of England including Bridgwater, Burnham on Sea, Minehead, Axbridge and Taunton. Supporting and challenging students to learn, grow, thrive and fly, our goal is for students to become confident and valued members of their community.
Elmwood provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where students can be confident in their ability to make progress in their learning and independence. Students are actively encouraged to consider their futures within the wider world and how to achieve their goals both within school and in the community.
Co-location with Robert Blake Science College, sharing a main building and facilities, means access to a variety of learning spaces including outdoor theatres, immersive technology, soft play and subject specific rooms for Science, Design and Food Technology and Physical Education. Students from both schools are able to access the others' lessons to help better meet their learning needs.
